Greetings! My name is Mandy. I’m a self-confessed Christian and geek, as well as being an engineer and writer. Due to a rather nomadic childhood, I’m not quite from anywhere--except perhaps the South. (Discounting my time in Hawaii, California, and...Orlando. Once you're that south in Florida, you're no longer in "the South.") However, I currently live in the middle of the desert, in a place I once thought made up by Bugs Bunny: Albuquerque.

In the most succinct terms, the point of this blog is a place for me to write about my thoughts on everything from my most recent fandom obsession to explorations of deep theological topics. And perhaps most interestingly, the cross-section of where those two topics meet.

You may have come to this website already familiar with me, either from twitter, the Trivially Crucial podcast, my tumblr, or maybe even my old blog. For those of you who were fans of the old blog, rest assured it is not going anywhere—I will not be taking it down. However, I will no longer be updating there. Instead all new posts from me will be here.

You may be wondering why I decided to start a new blog at all, when I’ve had my old one since 2009. Well, that blog had a meandering theme that basically followed my life. And I’m not saying this blog won’t be the same. Blogs tend to reflect and chronicle people’s lives. Being recently married, I’m at a new page in my life and I thought starting a new blog, one that I have better control over the formatting of, would be a good reflection of that new page. And while I can’t promise the theme won’t meander, I can promise one thing the other blog severely lacked: Organization.

I want this blog to be both a fun place to come and read my thoughts but also a resource. And in order for something to be a resource, it must be indexed in a way that is accessible for you, the reader.

A resource? How can this blog be a resource you ask?

Well I know what I’m envisioning but at this point it’s too early to really tell. But we’ll use an obvious example: book reviews. If I post a book review, I want you to be able to easily find that review even if it was posted years prior. I don’t want you to have to go through a side bar trying to remember what date I read that book on. Instead it would be nice if instead all you needed to know was the name of the book.

(And maybe one day when I figure out more html, I can even make this blog more searchable, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.)

My vision for this blog is still evolving. Undoubtedly the journey of writing here will be a rambling one—perhaps one that should’ve taken left in Albuquerque—but it’s sure as hell going to be an interesting ride.
